Slab Coffee Table

One of David’s existing clients approached him and asked for a compact coffee table for his Dad’s unit. Together they searched for a gorgeous combination of timbers that fit the budget. They came up with a slab top of Camphor Laurel, Blackbutt for the base, and Wenge highlights.

This coffee table takes its design cues from George Nakashima, but it is an original design in terms of size, materials and build. Cracked Blackbutt afforded an opportunity to stabilise the slab with highlights in Wenge, which is the material selected for the turned leg. The base stretcher is particular glorious with its burl and strong imperfections.
