This was not the client’s first taste of commissioning a bespoke piece, nor his first encounter with Wenge. The intention from the outset was to celebrate through-dovetails, the kind which are hand-cut and have narrow pins. This design maximised the contrast afforded by the light-coloured Oak and near-black Wenge. The drawers are mounted on simple wooden runners beneath a lovely plank of natural-edged River Red Gum. Without handles or knobs, the eye is drawn to the dovetailed corners in all their glory. Enough said.
